The Sapio Prize for Research and Innovation is a platform to spread, promote and honour research in Italy. The prize is an opportunity designed to shape ideas, promote talent and skills from youngsters through the most valid research projects.
The idea behind the Sapio Prize dates back to the nineties, during the regional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy meeting at the Bioindustry Park in Canavese di Ivrea. Sapio decided to invest in a national initiative that could draw attention to the value of scientific research and at the same time be a driver and showcase for young researchers.
The collaborations with different Italian bodies, such as universities, institutions and research centres, have grown stronger year after year. At the same time the fields considered by the prize have expanded, so that today it integrates science, biotechnologies, environment and economy.
